Sheet Metal

This sheet metal project was part of our upgrading a 1944 Dodge Power Wagon. The existing transmission tunnel and part of the firewall were unusable to accommodate the larger 4L85E automatic transmission, so a new tunnel, floor board and firewall sections had to be fabricated. The process involved using heavy weight paper and cutting it out to make a pattern which was then transferred to flat sheet metal. The sheet metal was cut out and formed to meet the size requirement. To give the floorboards that a unique custom finished appearance, a bead rolled quilted pattern was embossed on the sheets.
